I am so excited to start teaching August 21! Setting up a classroom,teaching a subject I'm passionate about, making lesson plans, working with teenagers...what a fun job! I will be teaching a sophomore health class at Orem High. I am grateful I got a job close so I don't have to drive to Salt Lake or some craziness like that. My mentor teacher is Mandi Nuttal who is younger and pregnant with her first baby! I think she'll be a blast to work with. I am a little nervous though! I'm so young and look like a student!


If anyone has any words of advice or lesson ideas, please let me know! I need all I can get!

Trevor the firefighter....

Okay. SO it's nearly midnight on Friday night and I'm home worried sick. Trev had planned a "surprise" weekend for me and we were both so excited. I was counting down the minutes at work when I got a phone call about 5pm. It was Trev and he was on his way to Nevada. Apparently, some of the fires are really bad out there. The Roches have a large amount of land and many cattle there. The fire can trap the cattle against the fence and literally, burn them (Don't worry..Trevor had to explain this all to me!). Since there are so many fires out there now, most of the firemen are caught up doing other things. In Trev's words, "you have to protect your own cattle b/c no one will do it for you!"

I was sorely dissappointed, but more scared to death. I've been watching the news and I see how dangerous those fires are. I did NOT want Trev to go, but I need to be tougher. Someone has to do it as this is their lives! So..I've just been worried sick all night. Cell phone service isn't great out there so I really don't know what's going on.

Sherri called me and said she was really worried too because neither of us had heard from him and in her words, "he really doesn't know what he's doing." He was supposed to call his parents when he got there. I am hoping Lamar is able to get out there soon. I'm SOOO nervous. Please say a prayer!

KALI AND RYAN!

I am so excited Kal and Ry are getting married in just a few short weeks. They are just the best! Kali's dress is GORGEOUS and we are currently looking for bridesmaid dresses. We think mom found the winner - but TBD. We are sorry to hear Kal's grandpa passed away. Both of our families have lost people dear to us in the past month. Thank goodness for the concept of eternal families. Together forever, right?

Alaska will be so fun for all of us! I love you two!

Roche Wedding

Trev's cousin, Bailey, married Jaycee Carroll on Thursday. I was lucky enough to be invited along by my cute boyfriend and meet the rest of the Roche clan. What a fun family! I seriously laughed so much. Vernon told Lamar, I "Wasn't as ugly as you said she was!" Apparently, they are brothers because the first time Lamar met me, he said the same thing...except using the adjective "fat." Honestly. :) I also met Uncle Ross -bless his old heart. No one warned me and then, when started talking about walnuts....and kept talking....and kept talking....I noticed Trev looking over at me and laughing his head off. I guess Uncle Ross likes to talk. Now we know who to avoid if you're in a hurry to get somewhere! Sweet man.

The wedding was at the Logan temple, which is gorgeous. Kali and I got stuck watching about 20 babies of the two families combined. It was NUTS! From stinky diapers to run away toddlers...what an adventure. I'm sure the sealing room was a little more peaceful. Afterwards, we went to the luncheon. Bailey was a beautiful bride. Her and Jaycees' video brought back some great memories of Trev and I's courtship thus far. Like the fact Trev told me he loved me after only 3 weeks of dating...haha.

On the way home, Trev and I began to talk about the wedding sealing. I started to cry as we talked about it (IMAGINE THAT!). It is just an amazing thought to know something you worked for all your life is coming to pass. I honestly am so excited to first, go through the temple and second, be sealed to Trev although he's way too good for me. I know he is excited too! I honestly can't wait for that ring...which Trev promises is coming VERY soon. Did i mention Trev picked out and bought this dress for me!? He's so thoughtful and it was so cute.

Sherri suggested Trevor and I have a destination wedding. How fun would that be? Any suggestions as to where?

The beginning...

Well, since the Ponder family is quickly growing and life is changing a ton for all of us the next 6 months, we figured it would be good to follow the trends of many American families; hence, the blog. Trevor will not touch this, I'm sure, but he is pretty much in our family already so he has no choice in the matter. :)
Hopefully, it will help us all to keep in touch and we can recruit the rest of the family to participate!
