Mother paranoia. I always laughed at paranoid moms, promising myself I would be laid back about things.
i failed.
Yet, when we go to the doctor, it brings this mom so much peace. My kid IS growing a ton. He IS fully recovered from the RSV. And get this, he didn't even cry a BIT! In fact, he was SMILING the whole time. The nurse was cute and young. Perhaps, this had something to do with the fact?
Time for Oprah. Lorena Bobbit is on today. Is it weird I can't wait to hear what she has to say?
For those who are interested in or contemplating vaccinations, here's my personal conclusion. Treyson had to naturally delay his immunizations a month bc of the RSV, which actually helped me to feel a bit better b/c he was a little bigger. We ended up giving him dTap, polio and HIB. Dtap and polio are pretty standard. We all got these two when we were babies and turned out great. The HIB I decided not to delay bc it is spread through respiratory secretions and many people are sneezing and coughing still. We learned this thru the RSV experience. I doubt we'lll give him Hep B because I don't have it and I don't plan on Trey swapping needles or doing the dirty anytime soon. There's also the pneumoccal immunizations. Still on the fence about this one. I don't see it as being extremely concerning or dangerous at the time, but we'll prob still do it. Just at 6 months. I decided not to buy the whole Jenny McCarthy theories (that's what I call them). There's aLWAYS risk in everything with children; however, I have seen an increase in death of infants (even here in Idaho) since this whole talk of not immunizing/delaying till 24 months began. I'd rather my kid have autism than die. personally. Plus, I don't want my kid to be at risk (or put others at risk) for something life threatening. Just a thought.

Peter just got his shots last monday. (yeah I know I'm a month late but I loathe getting them and he had been sick so I kept putting them off) Anyways, it wasn't that bad we actualy had to get 13 shots between 4 of my kiddos and we just juiced them up on tylenol when we got home. Peter was cranky for a couple days and had a low fever but it really wasn't as bad as I was making it out to be in my head. You can do it!!!
my best advice is give infant tylenol the concentrated infant drops BEFORE you go. This will help SOOO much and give him some every four hours. That is what the doc told me. So you can give him .4 which is like 1/2 of a dropper. Seriously do it, you will be way happier!
Do NOT give tylenol before you go until you check with your pediatrician first. IF he says it's okay for Trey, then absolutely ABSOLUTELY give him them before or immediately after his shots. It will save him so much misery. And remember, you've had shots before. Were you sick and miserable after them? He may be just fine! XOXO
I still haven't given Tof any shots. I mean ANY. Not even the HEP shot in the hospital or at his one month. I just haven't felt great about it yet since he hasn't been feeling good anyway. He's two months now and no shots. People may call me stupid but you just have to go with your gut.
So with Bryant I ended up giving him a warm bath and a little bit of tylenol because he was acting like his leg was a little sore. He seemed to calm right down after and didn't seem bothered at all that night or the next day. I think it helps to massage their legs the next day and give baths just because of the soreness. Anyway, it wasn't a big deal & Trey won't remember it so don't worry :)
Sam has not once had an issue with shots. I think that for his first round at the pediactrician's office, I pre-dosed him with Tylenol (with approval from the pede). Every other time I just nursed him or gave him his pacifier right after. As he got older (near 1), he just got over it.
i agree with your schedule for shots and your conclusion. we are doing a delayed schedule ourselves...we are following dr. sears' schedule. he will only get two shots per visit, as opposed to the 5-6 they usually give here. it means he will be going once a month for shot(s), instead of once every few months, but it means less shots in a single visit, which i like. they are more spaced out and not given in such large doses.
i dont feel comfortable at all with him getting 5-6 shots in one day. that to me is way too much for a tiny baby's immune system.
Totally feel the same way. I can't remember if I told you but there is also a vaccine called Rotateq for the rotavirus. We did it, but you can read up on it online.
Glad he did good. Tylenol is a big help!
Yes, go you! My father-in-law is a children's neuroligist, and says the risks outweight the rewards...treyson will be fine! I am pretty sure when we were all babies we all got vaccinated, slept on our tummies, and every other appaling thing, and look at us! Turned out great! Glad to hear he was so brave!
how is he doing???? I hope that you are doing ok!
Just read your comment... so funny because I just got back from a yard sale. Is it bad that I didn't but the clothes because it wasn't name-brand cute stuff? For some reason I only feel it's a real steal if it's name brand and dirt cheap, not just wal-mart and dirt cheap. I thought maybe you'd understand.
I didn't "buy" the clothes not "but." haha Sorry.
