I would like to retract my statement on yesterday's blog post.
I am not interested in having another child any time soon.
I am not interested in having another child any time soon.
In fact, I'm considering having my tubes tied.
Today was hellish.
Mealtime has become a battlefield.
Leaving us both in tears.
Treyson REFUSES to eat.
My milk has all but dried up
and he refuses formula too.
Solids have been rather smooth till recently.
Now he's not interested.
Everyone says, "oh, he won't starve himself."
Well, he's doing it.
help.
On the brighter side,
Trevor returned in one piece from yet another trucking excursion.
I never imagined I'd marry a man who can drive an 18 wheeler.
so sexy right?

brady started doing the same thing with solids. i found out he was bored. he wanted more variety.
do you make your own baby food or buy?
i make, and was doing your typical green beans, sweet potatoes, squash, etc.
but now i am doing combos (pureed together) like pumpkin and butternut squash or peaches and rasberries or adding some cinnamon to my sweet potatoes or apple sauce. once things had more flavor and i was spicing things up a bit (not literally), he is now back to normal and will eat like a champ.
i have also been pureeing foods that we eat. we have spaghetti and meatballs for dinner? so does he-just stick it in the food processor. we have chicken noodle soup? so does he-food processor.
i have no advice on the formula situation, but i can tell you that the last baby i nannied for did the exact same thing and the same exact age and her pedi advised crushing up tums about sprinkling them in her food, at every meal, to make sure she was still getting calcium, because that was crucial.
i hope it gets better for you soon. im thinking of you!
How frustrating!! The only advice I can give is that by about 8 months my babies eat pretty much what the family eats- just mushed up. My babies never liked baby food. They did always nurse for a long time- so try to find the silver lining and know that at least you don't have to go through the weaning process- which is sometimes miserable.
so sorry andrea! that SUCKS!
k i don't know much about this but what if you mixed in formula with food? wouldn't he be getting the nutrition he needs then you could give him liquids through a sippy cup during the day to avoid dehydration? a ton of the recipes i use on wholesomebabyfood.com call for formula in the meal if you aren't breastfeeding.....and i think it substitutes the actual bottle of it all. again, not educated but sorry this is happening to you.
let me know if i can help!
you may want to talk to your peditrician. at 8 months our peditrician had us start supplementing ronan's nursing with whole milk. i'm a stay at home mom and ronan rarely drank out of a bottle, he nursed. our dr told us to skip supplementing with formula in a bottle and go straight to whole milk in a sippy cup.
ronan has always been a pretty good eater so i don't have much advice for mealtime. we, like your other commenters, usually had ronan eat whatever we were eating for dinner, just mushed up. good luck!
what jenna said is exactly true and what i do as well. in each meal, i mix roughly 4 ounces of formula...
Hey...sorry to hear about Trey not eating! That's gotta be hard. Have you tried different textures of foods at all? He may have issues with certain textures. I dunno what he is able to eat or anything but we learned about that in school and maybe its worth a shot...maybe not. My mind isn't fully engaged these days what with the psychopath living upstairs.
